A New Finished Oil Painting by Chris Simpson

This most recent artwork was just completed by Chris last Friday. The painting is inspired in part by husband and wife acting duo Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall of the 1940's, especially how they had such a rapport with one another. There was always a touch of underlying humor and mischief with the two of them and I wanted the painting to visually have these qualities as well as being a good composition. 
Also the inspiration comes from the arrangement of object at the Barbara A. Wood Academy of Art where Chris teaches and produces some of his art in the Adult drawing and painting workshops.
Here Barbara A.Wood provided the set up with the wonderful chair, the female manikin dressed in one of her own outfits and great suggestions for ways to improve the painting.
We never stop growing and art is an endeavor where we should always be willing to learn more.
